Frequently asked questions
Have a question?
Try looking here to see if we have answered it. If you still have a question please contact me, I will be happy to help.
What is Resin?
A solid or liquid synthetic organic polymer
What is Eco Friendly Resin?
Eco friendly resin is a resin that is either non-toxic, renewable or solvent-free. Love your Tribe uses an eco friendly resin that is a USDA certified bio-based renewable material sourced from waste streams of other manufacturing products. This allows us to reduce our carbon foot print.
What is Karen Hill tribe silver?
Karen Hill Tribe silver is a handmade, high-quality silver product. The silver, having a 96-98% (which is higher than Sterling) and above silver content, is soft enough to work by hand. Each charm is a unique design and created by using silversmith techniques passed down through generations. We add Karen Hill Tribe charms to some of our pieces, not only to make our pieces gorgeous, but we get to show off the beautiful craftsmanship from these tribes. By doing this we are helping support them. Purchasing a Love your Tribe piece means that you are also supporting the Hill tribes of Thailand.
Are all Love your Tribe pieces made from silver?
Most Love your Tribe pieces are made using silver, however there a few pieces that are made using stainless steel, rose and yellow gold or plated. Each piece is labelled what material it is created out of, but if you are unsure please contact us. Sometimes we can offer gold filled. This is a thicker layer then plating and is a more cost effective alternative to gold.
What type of silver is used?
Most pieces are created using Sterling silver, and adorned with Hill tribe silver charms or beads. A few of our rings are made using recycled metals, we hope to have all our pieces made from recycled metals in the future.
How do I know what colours or inclusions are available?
When selecting your desired piece there is a drop down menu stating what colours or inclusions are available. However, we are happy to customise your piece so dont hesitate to make a query about possible change of colours. Check out our colour chart on our website to see what colours Love your Tribe pieces come in. Please remember that each piece is lovingly handmade for you, so the colours and inclusions may vary from the photograph.
Can I have a custom piece made?
Yes, of course you can. Head over the the custom enquiries and place the listing in your cart, in the comments add any information you wish to discuss. To reserve your spot you will need to pay a $40 non refundable deposit, that will be taken off your final cost once ordered. Once received Bec will be in contact to discuss your ideas and to receive a rough quote. If this isn’t available, then sign up on our waitlist to be notified when they will be available again. There are only a limited amount of spots open at any one time.
How long does it take to receive my piece?
“Ready to be sent” pieces will be sent within 5-7 business days (excluding weekends and public holidays) but may take longer to receive depending on what postage has been selected. Breastmilk jewellery is expected to take 10-12 weeks (from receiving breastmilk), but may take longer depending on whether you have selected a piece from the website or have designed your own personal piece. In all cases, Love your Tribe reserves the right to extend making periods due to unforeseen circumstances or to make sure you receive a high quality piece. We will be in touch if we have to extend making periods or if we can see that your piece will not be completed within this time period. Again depending on what shipping has been selected your piece may take longer to reach your doorstep.
How much breastmilk do I send?
Send us anything between 10-20ml of your breastmilk for crafting. Contact us if you have any questions about this. Please dont send more than 30ml as this increases the chance of the bag bursting. Please do not send all of your last breastmilk to us as it will be safely disposed of after we have finished crafting (unless you have specifically contacted us). We are more than happy to accomodate special circumstances.
How do I send my breastmilk for a piece of jewellery?
Place your breastmilk inside a breastmilk storage bag then into three or more ziplock bags that are labelled with your name and order number. Make sure each snap lock bag is closed securely to save any spilt milk or any other unwanted events occurring. Wrap the bags inside absorbent paper (you can use kitchen roll) and send it to us inside a padded envelope.
Where do I send my piece?
Please contact Bec if you need to double check the address.
Do you accept International orders?
We sure do, once you order you will be sent information as to how to send your breastmilk into Australia.
Do I need to preserve my breastmilk before I send it?
No, the preservation of your breastmilk is included in the process of creating your jewellery.
Can I freeze my breastmilk before I send it?
Yes, but it must be defrosted before you send it to Love your Tribe. Breastmilk is 90% water so it wont spoil (curdle) on the trip.
How long will you hold my unused milk and unused preserved milk?
Depending on how many pieces you would like made, you may have some left over preserved breastmilk. If you would like to keep your preserved breastmilk please request it to be returned when your piece is sent. If there are special circumstances in which you have already spoken to us about there will be an extra postage payment for any unused breastmilk to be sent as it will be sent separately to your piece. In all cases we will safely dispose of your breastmilk as soon as your piece has been sent, so please if you wish to keep some of your breast milk do not send all of it for crafting. Preserved breastmilk will be kept for 6 months, we will contact you before the preserved breastmilk is disposed of. During this time period you are more than welcome to contact us to have another piece crafted from your breastmilk.
What inclusions do you use in your jewellery?
At this stage we only include breastmilk in our jewellery, but are happy to discuss working with hair through custom enquiries.
Can I have my ring resized?
Due to the nature of the our stones resizing a ring will damage the stone. Please be extremely sure of your sizing when you tell us your size. We will not be held responsible for incorrect sizing being sent to us. For breastmilk rings, we will send out a ring sizer to you. The mutisizer works like a belt. Simply push the end through the buckle to form a ring shape. Slip the multisizer on your finger and adjust to comfortable fit. Please check that it just slips back over the knuckle- but does not fall off. Allow for swelling. To see the size, read where the arrow indicates. Once adjusted, email through your size and place multisizer back in the packet. Send it in a separate snap lock bag along wth your milk. For all our rings, you can visit your local jeweller to be sized properly. This will avoid any mistakes. We do work with International sizing so if your jeweller can size you in International sizing this is perfect- however, we can change your size from Australian to International for you. If your ring does need to be resized due to your sizing error, there will be a cost at your expense. Please note that sizing can only occur before crafting of your stone.
Can I exchange or return a piece?
At this stage Love your Tribe does not offer exchanges or returns for change of mind, so please be sure of your purchase.
However, if your pieces is believed to be faulty your are entitled to receive a full refund, as long as the piece is sent back to Love your Tribe within 7 days from purchase date. It will need to be accompanied with a valid proof of purchase. The piece must still be in its original packaging.
